Homeowner questions

Residential HVAC FAQ

Most residential AC repairs in Las Vegas fall into a wide range depending on the part and the problem — a worn capacitor or contactor is a small, common fix, while a compressor or refrigerant leak repair sits much higher. Aspen Air diagnoses the system first and gives you a flat, upfront price before any work starts, so you approve the number before we turn a wrench.

The most common causes in Vegas homes are a dirty air filter choking airflow, a tripped breaker, a failed capacitor, low refrigerant from a leak, or a frozen evaporator coil. Some of these you can check yourself (filter, breaker, thermostat set to cool); others need a technician. If you see ice on the lines or the breaker keeps tripping, turn the system off and call us — running it that way can destroy the compressor.

At least once a year, ideally a cooling tune-up in spring before the first heat wave, plus a heating check in fall. Las Vegas systems run far harder than systems in milder climates, so the maintenance interval that works elsewhere isn't enough here. A spring tune-up is the cheapest way to avoid a July emergency.

Yes. Aspen Air answers calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends and holidays. A real person picks up — not an answering service that calls back Monday. In a Las Vegas summer, a dead AC is an emergency, and we treat it like one.

As a rule of thumb: if your system is over 12–15 years old, runs on phased-out R-22 refrigerant, and the repair would cost roughly a third or more of a new system, replacement usually wins long-term. If it's newer and the fix is minor, repair makes sense. We give you both numbers honestly and let you decide — no pressure.

We serve the entire valley across the valley, including Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin, Spring Valley, Enterprise, Paradise, Sunrise Manor, Centennial Hills, Aliante, Whitney, Winchester, Green Valley, Anthem and the wider Clark County valley.
